This weekend Daði & Gagnamagnið won the Icelandic national song competition with their funky synth-pop hit Think About Things. They will compete on behalf of Iceland in Rotterdam on May 12th and on the 16th assuming they will make it to the finals. As a matter of fact the song has already caught international attention when Eurovision gurus and fans tweeted about it resulting in it going viral.
Eurovision 2021 in Reykjavík?
Shortly after the results were in, Iceland went up all major bookmakers lists who predict the song will win Eurovision this year. Before we get too excited, not all participating countries have revealed their contribution and there are still 70 days to go. But the song is That good!
Fun facts
Think About Things is quite the contrast to last years anti-capitalist bdsm-techno banger Hatrið Mun Sigra or ‘Hate Will Prevail’. Now Love is taking the stage. Daði’s sweet catchy melody and quirky cool dance moves have charmed Iceland and the fact that the song is written about his baby girl who is only about 10 months old now makes it even more lovable. The band performing with him; Gagnamagnið or ‘The Data’ consists of Daði’s wife and friends and his sister on backing vocals.
We are really excited for Daði & Gagnamagnið and wish them all the best while we start planning our own Eurovision parties in May!
