This is an action packed sightseeing tour of river rafting in Hvítá Glacier River and a visit to three of the most iconic places in Iceland, known as The Golden Circle. After a pick up from Reykjavík the first stop is Thingvellir National Park. Next up is Geysir hot spring and geothermal area and Gullfoss Waterfall. After the sightseeing it’s time for lunch and with our batteries reloaded and stomachs full we head for an adrenaline fuelled rafting trip down Hvítá Glacier River.

Experience Rafting down a Glacier River

River Hvítá originates in Iceland’s second largest glacier; Langjökull. No prior experience of river rafting is required and we assure you, you’ll be in good hands with your expert guides. Although being able to swim is not necessary, we do recommend it and that you feel comfortable with water.

After gearing up and getting ready for the adventure it’s time to head to the rafting boats. On the trip down the river you’ll make a stop by the scenic Brúarhlöð Canyon where you’ll get the chance to jump off the cliff into the river. This is not for the faint-hearted, but highly recommended if you’re in for a proper adrenaline kick. Afterwards we invite you to relax in the sauna at the base camp and to take a shower.

The Golden Circle Highlights

Thingvellir National Park is situated in a rift valley created by the continuous friction of the two major tectonic plates, the North American and Eurasian. Walking along Almannagjá gorge surrounded by spectacular landscape packed with history and folklore, is definitely not to be missed.

Haukadalur is the home of Geysir; the iconic erupting hot spring. Currently Geysir is dormant, but little cousin Strokkur erupts every 6-10 minutes and spews boiling hot water up to 25 m / 82 ft high. Enjoy exploring this unique geothermal landscape which sparks colourful landscapes and steamy hot springs.

Gullfoss is one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls, dropping down a few levels within the great canyon of Hvítá glacial river. Just a stone’s throw away from the car park the view is breathtaking, but a path will lead you so close to the waterfall that you can feel the drizzle.
